Extract selected pages or separate every PDF page
Split PDF supports two common workflows. Extract selected pages creates one new PDF containing only the pages entered in the range field. Save every page separately creates a ZIP file with one PDF for each original page.
Page ranges can include individual numbers and continuous ranges separated by commas. The tool validates every entry against the actual page count, preventing a partial download caused by an invalid page number.
How to use Split PDF
Open the source PDF
Choose the document whose pages need to be separated or extracted.
Select the split method
Choose one PDF with selected pages or individual PDF files for every page.
Enter page ranges
For extraction, type values such as 1-3, 5, 8-10. Leave the field empty to include every page.
Download the result
Save the extracted PDF or the ZIP containing each separate page.
Keep only the pages relevant to the next task
Splitting is useful when a long report contains one section that must be emailed, a scan includes unrelated pages, or an application portal accepts separate documents. The extracted pages keep their original visible content and page dimensions.
The separate-pages option uses numbered filenames so the original order remains obvious after the ZIP is unpacked. The range parser removes duplicate page numbers while retaining the sequence entered.
Example: extract one chapter from a long manual
Enter the physical page range for the chapter, create a smaller PDF and verify its first and last page. Printed page labels may not match physical PDF positions when covers and front matter are present.
Choose separate pages when every page must become its own file. Choose extract when the selected pages should remain together in one PDF.
When Split PDF is the right choice
- Extract selected pages from a long report
- Separate one scan into smaller documents
- Save a page range as its own PDF
Edge cases to check before downloading
- Encrypted documents can restrict page copying.
- Extraction is not the same as secure redaction.
- Shared document-level metadata can remain in the new file.
Privacy, quality and compatibility
Encrypted or restricted PDFs may not allow page copying. Remove restrictions only when you are authorized to modify the document.
Your selected files are processed in browser memory. Keep the source document, inspect the download and use the original authoring application when exact legal, print or archival fidelity is required.
