What changes when PDF becomes JPG

Text, vector lines, links and form fields are rendered into pixels. The page will look similar, but words are no longer selectable and hyperlinks are no longer interactive. Keep the PDF as the master copy when those features matter.

Each PDF page becomes its own image. A multi-page result is commonly placed in a ZIP so every numbered JPG can be downloaded together.

Use high quality for detail

Choose high quality for diagrams, small text, archival previews and pages that may be enlarged. More pixels preserve fine edges but create larger images and a larger ZIP download.

High resolution cannot improve a blurry original scan. It only captures the page at more pixels. Source quality remains the upper limit.

Use balanced quality for everyday sharing

Balanced output suits slide decks, messaging, document previews and most screen viewing. It provides enough detail for typical page text without the weight of print-focused rendering.

Smaller settings are appropriate for thumbnails or bandwidth-limited sharing. Always test a page containing the smallest text before converting a long document.

Privacy and protected documents

Browser-based rendering can keep the PDF on the device, but the downloaded JPG files should still be handled according to the sensitivity of the source. Delete temporary ZIP files when they are no longer needed.

A password-protected PDF needs the correct password. Permission controls or unsupported encryption can prevent rendering, and they should not be bypassed without authorization.

When JPG is the wrong output

Use PNG when crisp flat graphics or transparency matter more than compact photographic compression. Keep PDF when selectable text, multiple pages in one file, accessibility or print dimensions are required. Convert only the pages needed if the destination accepts a limited number of images.
