Turn scanned PDF pages into editable English text
A scanned PDF stores page photographs rather than ordinary text objects. OCR analyzes those pixels and estimates the characters, words and reading order so the text can be reused.
EasyPDFEdit renders each selected PDF page locally, runs the bundled English recognition model and creates a Word document with page breaks. The source scan is never submitted to an EasyPDFEdit conversion server.
How to use OCR PDF
Choose the scanned PDF
Select a clear PDF containing printed English text.
Choose page resolution
Use Balanced for most documents or High for small print when the device has enough memory.
Run OCR and proofread
Recognition processes pages one at a time and reports progress.
Download editable text
Open the DOCX, compare it with the scan and correct recognition errors before reuse.
OCR accuracy depends on the source scan
Straight pages, strong contrast and readable type produce better recognition. Shadows, handwriting, curved pages, decorative fonts, stamps and low-resolution photographs can reduce accuracy.
OCR does not reconstruct the original design, tables or exact typography. The DOCX is an editable text starting point. Important names, dates, totals and account numbers must be checked against the source.
Example: recover text from a scanned letter
Render the scanned pages at balanced resolution, recognize the English text and open the DOCX beside the original PDF. Correct paragraph breaks, names and punctuation before using the result.
For an invoice or table, verify every numeric value independently. OCR can help recover labels and content, but it does not recreate formulas or guarantee the original row and column structure.
When OCR PDF is the right choice
- Recover text from a scanned letter
- Create an editable draft from printed paperwork
- Make a scan easier to search and reuse
Edge cases to check before downloading
- Handwriting and curved pages can produce poor recognition.
- OCR can confuse visually similar letters and digits.
- Large high-resolution scans consume substantial memory and battery.
Privacy, quality and compatibility
This release recognizes printed English and exports editable DOCX text. It does not directly replace words inside the scanned page image or promise legal-grade transcription accuracy.
Your selected files are processed in browser memory. Keep the source document, inspect the download and use the original authoring application when exact legal, print or archival fidelity is required.
