Convert a bank statement into a format you can use

  1. Choose a digital PDF: select a statement with text you can highlight in a PDF reader.
  2. Inspect extraction: the converter looks for transaction dates and common headings such as description, debit, credit and balance.
  3. Review every row: correct wrapped descriptions, dates, amounts, missing rows and debit/credit assignments before export.
  4. Choose the output: download CSV for spreadsheets and imports, XLSX for Excel, JSON for custom workflows or QIF for compatible accounting software. QIF includes only clear debit or credit rows with a YYYY-MM-DD date. Always inspect its import preview.
  5. Verify: compare the transaction count, dates, signs and opening and closing balances against the original bank statement.

Supported bank statement inputs and important limits

Bank statements use different layouts. This tool reads a PDF’s existing text layer and groups visual rows. It handles common date formats and labelled debit, credit and balance columns. When it cannot distinguish a debit from a credit, it puts the movement in an unassigned amount column for you to correct. It does not connect to your bank, import bank feeds, detect every bank format or reconcile your books automatically.

Scanned or photographed statements need text recognition. This converter automatically tries local English OCR when a page has no readable transaction amounts. You can also rerun OCR from the source preview. For a standalone document workflow, use OCR PDF. Check recognized dates and amounts carefully. For ordinary tables rather than transactions, use PDF to ExcelBank statement converter.

Private conversion and careful verification

Bank statements contain sensitive personal and financial information. The conversion runs locally in your browser, and this page has no statement upload endpoint. Your browser may still load the website’s static scripts. Close the tab when finished and store downloads securely. Review the original PDF against your spreadsheet before bookkeeping, tax, loan, legal or other consequential use.

Bank statement converter FAQ

Does this bank statement converter upload my file?

No. PDF text extraction, preview and export run in your browser. The file is not sent to EasyPDFEdit by this tool.

Can it convert scanned bank statements?

Yes. Pages without readable transaction text are tried with local English OCR. OCR can misread dates and amounts, so every OCR row needs review. Faint scans, handwriting and other languages may need manual entry.

Which banks are supported?

There is no guaranteed bank list. It detects common transaction headings and date formats; unusual layouts need review.

Can I edit the transactions before downloading?

Yes. Change any date, description, debit, credit, balance or unassigned amount in the preview, or remove a row.

Why are some amounts marked unassigned?

When column labels or debit/credit indicators are unclear, the tool refuses to guess which side an amount belongs on. Review and move it to the right column.

Are Excel and CSV available?

Yes. Download XLSX, CSV or JSON. QIF is available for dated rows with a clear debit or credit; ambiguous rows are excluded from that export.

Will the output reconcile automatically?

No. Check opening and closing balances, every transaction and totals against the source PDF before accounting use.

Can I convert bank statement PDF to Excel with this tool?

Yes — choose XLSX as the output format to convert bank statement PDF to Excel, or pick CSV, JSON or QIF when you need an accounting import or structured data file.

Choose the right output format

CSV is a simple tabular file that many spreadsheets and accounting systems can import. XLSX is a native Excel workbook for manual review. JSON preserves row and review flags for custom processing. QIF can import dated transactions into software that supports it, but import conventions differ: verify dates and debit signs before posting. This tool does not produce OFX and does not connect to a bank.

Only PDF input is supported here. For a focused Excel workflow, see PDF bank statement to Excel. Image-only pages are tried with local English OCR in this converter. Every OCR result needs close checking against the source preview.
